The theme of the conference is "Tourism in the Asia Pacific".

The emergent trends in tourism favour the Pacific Region. While China is currently regarded as a key market for both inbound and outbound tourism, the growing economies of India, Indonesia and the wider ASEAN market are of importance while the west coast of the United States remains very important as both a tourist destination and tourist generating zone. Equally in the longer term it is forecast that Latin America will come to make its presence felt.

For the nations of New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific Islands the twenty-first century seemingly holds more promise than ever before. Yet there are challenges. Changing populations – both in size and composition, the growing signs of a degrading environment, the social issues generated by growing inequalities of wealth, the growing needs for energy to sustain or achieve desired living standards – all these issues question whether tourism will be simply ‘business as usual – but bigger’ or alternatively some radical changes will need to be considered. Professor Ian Yeoman of Victoria University for example submits a scenario for New Zealand , Eco Paradise, where New Zealand’s international tourism is based on quotas to avoid over-crowding.

It is not our intention to constrain authors, the floor is basically open to you as researchers, but as a guidance a list of themes is provided in the registration web page that is found at:  Click here
